Beware Of The Wounded Tiger
India failed miserably in the World Cup,2007 held in the West Indies. It was a world cup that stands today in stark contrast of its previous edition where India although finally defeated by the mighty Aussies....left shinning.Knowing the cult following ,the game has in the Indian Subcontinent, it was only a matter of time before swords would be drawn to chop of heads. But few knew that one of the most talked guy in the failure list would be Sachin Tendulkar.
Greg Chappell may have been the best batsman of his time....so what..??.It was a different era altogether and I'm sure he never achieved the cult status that Sachin has done during his career. When he must have walked to bat ,he would not have had one billion people praying that he scores a century and takes his team to victory .He should have watched his tongue while speaking abominably against the master batsman. He should have known that form is temporary and class permanent.I guess Sachin was right in coming out with an emotional outburst saying that ,"In 17 years of International cricket no coach has said to me that"."My point is how can one someone say something like that against a player who has proven that he is up with the best in the world. For 17 years, Tendulkar's bat has been singing one song and I can only pity those people who call for his head ,since these are the same people who used to go ga-ga while he was on song.We need to learn to respect our heroes.Sachin during most of his career has remained the backbone of Indian batting and sometimes that has been a handicap for him.He has so much belief in his abilities that everytime he walks to the middle he believes he can do it for India,Thats the sole reason he prefers slowing down and playing a sedate innings rather than the swanky ones ne played earlier.
I guess the time is ripe for Sachin to prove that he definitely is the boss. He's rested for the Bangladesh tour but he's there for the tests and knowing Sachin he'll use the tests to regain the lost posture. So hey future touring teams and host nations ....beware of this old bloke...he's 34, and old....but he still has the firepower to kill...he can still meet fire with fire.If you don't agree ask people who have played against him."I do be disappointed,"says Shane Warne ,"if Sachin didn't get a 100 hundreds in International Cricket.".His teammate and captain of the side Ricky Ponting says ," Sachin probably is the most technically correct player that i have ever seen".Michael bevan says that,"He's the best batsman I've played against" and the just retired Brian Charles Lara says," All I can tell Sachin is to keep going. He knows what he has to do.He has couple of years left in him and who knows hemight be even eyeing the next World Cup.If he is playing and I have opportunity to watc him bat, then I'll watch him because he's a very special player."Need we hear more.....
A wounded tiger ,turns a maneater and we needn't go into delving what a maneater can do.A wounded Sachin can be likened to the King of the Jungle.....They are bred to kill and thats exactly what they will do....I'm waiting for that serene moment when sachin will raise his bat ,and the world including Ian Chappell will eat there own words....get a taste of their own Medicine....Jiyo Sachin.....!!!
